This is our first crop of calves out of FIRE 116C and we are very happy with the offspring. The birth weights are moderate – there are a couple of exceptions but the dam families of 47E and 61E have consistently thrown heavier calves no matter what bull they are bred to. Both 47E and 61E are out of second calvers and neither had an issue with the 95 and 94 lb calves. Our calving dates are more spread out and later than normal. We pushed back the turn out date by a few weeks as we had planned to be away for all of January, 2017. This change to the schedule really threw some of the cows off their cycles but fortunately they have all returned to their normal late January and February schedules for the 2018 calving season. We are very excited about the 2018 calves – they are extremely consistent and already showing beautiful muscle definition!

47E and 61E have been almost identical since birth. They are both very long and well muscled with beautiful hips. They have had a very respectable 3.12 and 3.52 lbs per day gain since birth. They will make exceptional cow bulls and if used together on a larger group of cows you could have a lot of confidence that you will get a very uniform calf crop with excellent weaning weights.

32E is one of the younger bulls on offer this year. He has had a 3.27 lbs per day gain since birth. He won’t mature into as tall a bull as either 47 or 61 but he has a moderate birth weight and will make a wonderful heifer or young cow bull.

Shades of Autumn Production and Prospect Sale
We were very honoured to participate in the “Shades of Autumn Production and Prospect Sale” hosted by Poplar Meadows of Houston, B.C. The sale took place on October 7, 2017. We only had five heifers this year so we only consigned one to the sale but she was a good representation of the type of calves that FIRE 116C is giving us.
